I finally finished the GDevelop tutorial, after starting it months ago. It feels nice, but also just like the first step of a journey that I should have started shortly after starting. I know that life happens but I'm tired of just letting that control what I try to get done, the issue wasn't that I couldn't but that I kept pushing off the effort until I was effectively just choosing not to.
I am now though, I am making the steps and forcing myself to move towards the future that I want and not just the future that I happen to get. I have to be a much more active participant in my own journey, even if it is a struggle. I'm hoping that if I make this a habit it will get easier, but I know that a lot of things don't get easier for me. That being said, I love games, I love making games.... I just have a hard time getting the activation energy needed to start. Often once I have, I'm able to go until derailed by the outside world.
Anyway, I prattle on, the hardest thing about the last page of the tutorial was that it is for a slightly older version of GDevelop and, as we all know, this means that some things have been changed/updated or moved. There were also a couple of issues with the images that caused me far too much trouble simply because my screen wasn't matching what they were showing to be correct. Ultimately it forced me to look over what was being accomplished and not just the steps that were listed.
I'm excited for tomorrow, I'll be starting adjustments on gameplay to bring it in line with 'Tadpole Man'. My plan is to flip the spawners so things appear from the bottom, add something that revives your hp, and create a meter to track your progress towards growing in size. Step 4/1000 Well on the way, but still feels intangible.
